Art, Technology and Science

The cultural convergence of art, science, and technology provides ample opportunity for artists to challenge the very notion of how art is produced and to call into question its subject matter and its function in society.
Although there are more and more organisations and festivals that explore this convergence, the international public is still unaware of these forms of contemporary art either because of the brick and mortar nature of ‘art’ institutions or because the ‘new media’ arts festivals attract exclusively eclectic and mature publics.
Planet Art eXchange , a UK based not for profit organisation that aims to integrate creative communities transnationally is launching artOsphere , a project for a multipurpose nomadic art venue and exhibition for STEM Arts (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Arts )–
The mission of artOsphere is to present to the international public works that explore innovative discourse on the convergence of art, s cience, and technology in an attractive way. Presented as such, artOsphere will not only be a catalyst for artistic creative experimentation, but will also enable the public to interact with works produced by diverse communities that explore uncharted art grounds.
Those events will be organised twice a year in the selected European capitals of culture and will cover diverse forms of information art ranging from mathematics, digital, biology, physics and communication arts.
To achieve this objective and launch artOsphere in 2010, we aim to build long term partnerships with selected European organisations and. Partners will be responsible for hosting and co-organising artOsphere events in their localities.
